Review: Strange the Dreamer & Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Firstly I have to say I absolutely adore the covers on these, such lovely lovely artwork, even before you open the book they are beautiful, magical.

Having built up expectation I’m pleased to say that opening those beautiful covers certainly doesn’t disappoint. If there was ever a Duet of books that lived up to their promise then it is these.

My heart was broken and re-made so many times while I lived inside these pages that I lost count.

The mystery of Weep is as fascinating to the reader as it is to Lazlo himself. I literally held my breath at points along the way as we learnt more about Weep, it’s people – and godspawn – who lived there.

Lazlo is such a wonderful creation, he’s tenacious and touch yet so innocent and gentle that you can’t help but want him to succeed. All the character in this were well rounded and capable of playing with the readers emotions although it was Minya who really captivated me.

Laini’s usual gorgeous prose is a real pleasure to read, after all who can’t fall in love with an author who crafts sentences like this

“Wishes don’t just come true. They’re only the target you paint around what you want. You still have to hit the bulls-eye yourself.”

If I have a wish after reading this duet of books then it’s for more please! More Lazlo and his companions, more Karou, more books to get lost in from Laini Taylor.

Would I recommend this duet? Yes, absolutely!

In fact what are you waiting for? Go find them, borrow them from your library, download them, go along to your local bookshop and grab them. You might not get much else done for a few days but you won’t regret it.
