Book Review: The Magic Order by Mark Millar, Illustrated by Olivier Coipel

We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster, and The Magic Order is the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the Mob in The Magic Order, as five families of magicians — sworn to protect our world for generations — must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day, they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first.

The Magic Order – a secret society created by magical families to keep the rest of humanity safe. It’s a great idea to build a series of graphic novels on, it might not be an entirely new idea but it is one with a lot of scope.

For this volume  our focus is on the Moonstone family Regan and Cordelia who are Magic Order members and Gabriel who decided he no longer wants to be a part of that world and lives without magic.

As we join the story we find that mysterious assassins have been picking off members of the order giving us our conflict for the story…

This was an engaging graphic novel and the illustrations really added life to the story, I’ll definitely be picking up the next one of these.
