10 Things I love about Good Omens

I absolutely adored the TV adaption of the wonderful Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It reminded me of just how much I love the book as well.

As there are already plenty of reviews for both book and show, I won’t do a standard review for either, instead here are 10 things I loved about it, in no particular order (possible minor spoilers for both book and show if you’ve not read/watched yet)

The Humour – both book and show have some wonderfully funny moments

The Casting – this was spot on, Tennant and Sheen in-particular were amazing as Crowley and Aziraphale respectively. The addition of Gabriel in a larger role (Jon Hamm) was a super idea too.

The Hope – Overall it’s such a hopeful story, it just feels wonderful

The Show’s End – Normally I’m not a big fan of shows tweaking books about but the ‘punishment’ of Aziraphale and Crowley by their respective sides fitted so well it felt like it had always been there.

Aziraphale’s Bookshop – I love that he loves books so much he started a bookshop to surround himself with them. was great to see it come to life as well.

The Hellhound – one of my favourite parts of the book, the transformation of Adam’s Hellhound into Dog.

The Prophecies – What would the story be without Agnes’ prophecies after all. Often slightly obscure (but always accurate).

Crowley and Aziraphale’s friendship – These two are such a great double act and their genuine affection for each other leaps off the page (and screen)

The Them – Adam’s great group of friends who keep him (quite literally) grounded.

The lullaby Crowley sings to Warlock – I laughed so much at it, it was brilliant.

and a bonus for the use of ineffable, a word I have rarely come across anywhere else!

There are many other things I adore about this fabulous story and I could happily witter on for ages, but I’ll sum up by saying its a story that makes me happy, which is perhaps one of the greater compliments a story can be paid.

Have you seen Good Omens yet? What did you think?
